Peer Mentor

UTeach College of Natural Sciences

UT Austin

Asa peer mentor, I assisted UTeach students in the introductory classes for the program by lesson planning and providing resources throughout the semester. This internship aided growth in my communication skills and approachability in and outside of the classroom.

Fall 2018 - May 2020

Learning Assistant

UT Austin Mathematics Department

Being a learning assistant for the required College of Education math courses helped me to better explain mathematical concepts and their applications. This position allowed me to walk my peers through why something works rather than them memorizing the content for their exams.

Education

AT AUSTIN

Bachelor of Science and Arts

in Mathematics

Austin, TX

My time at UT Austin significantly changed my world views and allowed me to find my passion for the intersection of  Mathematics and Education. From here, I have learned things that are imperative to a classroom from professors who have modeled teaching effortlessly.

UT Austin taught me a multitude of lessons but some of the most important remain to be to treat others with dignity, have empathy first, care enough to act, and strive to positively change the world.

Fall 2017 -

Spring 2021

UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS

AT AUSTIN

UTeach Certification in

Mathematics grades 7-12

Austin, TX

The UTeach program opened me up to the field of Education. Throughout the program I have learned how to form meaningful learning experiences and relationships with my students. UTeach has shown me how important exploration before introducing content is because that is the way humans naturally learn. Above all else, UTeach taught me how to create a classroom culture where students feel included, safe and ready to learn.
